Following Ford’s launch of its new Transit Custom, Wellhouse Leisure is delighted to announce its new Terrier 3 campervan, and is now taking orders for its first customer deliveries in April 2018.

The new Wellhouse Ford Terrier 3 features the new front-end design and an all-new cab interior from the new Transit Custom, plus Ford’s latest driver assistance technologies; while the campervan’s high standard specification now has the convenience of Remis blinds for the cab, new swivel, dimmable reading lights with integrated USB sockets, and a new digital control panel for the Eberspacher heating system with the option to be able to control it remotely via an APP. Finally, in response to customer feedback, the table is now freestanding so it can be used inside or outside the vehicle.

With new front-end styling in line with Ford’s passenger cars, the new Terrier 3 is distinguished by a bolder front grille and dynamic slim headlights with LED daytime running lights and powerful HID Xenon headlamps available.

The completely new cab shares a new Ford dashboard design recently introduced in the new Fiesta with a practical ‘user-centric’ layout and new ‘floating’, tablet-inspired eight-inch colour touchscreen with Ford’s SYNC3 communications and entertainment system.

Improved, class-leading stowage space includes three open storage areas on the upper surface of the dashboard with space for mobile devices, campsite directories or maps, a generous glove box capable of storing hanging A4 files for well organised campers, and redesigned door panels with three large stowage spaces and a practical new grab handle.

The cab also has a new fold-out cup holder beneath the gear lever adding to the cup holders and two-litre bottle holders at each end of the dashboard, plus new, more comfortable seats with improved support.

Ford’s latest Intelligent Speed Assist technology can help stop the driver exceeding speed limits. Ford’s blind spot information system with ‘cross traffic alert’ is also available and alerts the driver if it detects vehicles approaching from behind using the latest generation sensors with increased range and improved capabilities, including the ability to detect motorbikes.

Under the bonnet is the Ford 2.0-litre, 130PS, Ford EcoBlue Euro6 diesel engine introduced last year, with a 6-speed manual as standard, or the option of a 6-speed automatic transmission. A plug-in hybrid model is expected in 2019.

The Terrier 3 range includes Le Tour, SE, Sport, Lux-XL, Supersport and the MS-RT VR46. Prices range from £36,000 up to £60,000. The best-selling Terrier 3 SE is £46,000, plus there is also a special edition launch model with metallic orange paintwork and colour-coordinated black and orange leather upholstery, available from £47,500 (on the road).

David Elliott, Director of Lunar Campers commented: “The Ford Transit Custom is one of the most popular commercial vehicles in its class and has become an extremely successful campervan conversion for Wellhouse Leisure, but the new model is even better and we know our customers will love it.”

The rest of the Terrier’s popular features remain the same: the stylish, one-piece side kitchen and storage unit by premium, Italian furniture manufacturer Tecnoform, makes the Terrier standout from its rivals; and its sliding rear seat means living space can be maximised while camping, or it can slide forward while travelling to accommodate larger items or bring passengers closer to the front seats; unlike many campervans, the rear seat has three seat belts, which means a family of five can travel in the Terrier.

Since Wellhouse Leisure was acquired by Lunar Caravans last summer, its new company, Lunar Campers, has received a lot of interest in the Ford Terrier from Lunar’s overseas dealer network and from the public at exhibitions in Germany and France, and will be able to provide additional production capacity at Lunar’s UK factory to meet demand.
