National Camping and Caravanning Week VIP Event

Since 2001 The Camping and Caravanning Club have organised the National Camping and Caravanning Week (NCCW).

It is the Club’s annual celebration of camping, caravanning and the great outdoors. It aims to get the British public engaged with camping and caravanning, and to raise the profile of our great hobby.

The 2018 event took place from 28 May - 3rd June and The Club encouraged people to step out for National Camping and Caravanning Week.

Club research found that nearly 60% of campers say walking and hiking are their favourite activities when camping. This was one of the activities organised on their VIP Event held at the Star Club Site at Alton in Staffordshire which we were delighted to attend.

The VIP Event was held on 31st May and 1st June in the adjacent rally field where activities were based around a huge triple tepee tent.

Various competition winners enjoyed the two days and many stayed on for the weekend.

Swift provided two caravans and Truma/Bailey provided two caravans

All of these were kitted out with bedding and necessary camping equipment.

Vango supplied one full kitted out Rosewood tent and Outwell supplied two tents.

The competition winners who were drawn to stay in these won the tent and any contents and could take them home with them.

The event was sponsored by Powrtouch, Truma and Thetford.

Lunch and evening meals were provided and as well as a six miles plus organised walk up hill and down dale, there were map reading classes and various activities for the children.

For evening entertainment Live Music was laid on with two bands alternating doing covers of well known tracks with a twist.

Everyone enjoyed the complimentary bar and the company of Camping and Caravanning Club personnel including Robert Louden, Paul Jones, Rob Ganley,  Simon McGrath, Andrew Robson, Michelle Jewell and many more all making it a great event.
